Becoming Catholic (RCIA)
The RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) provides a process to learn about the Catholic faith, explore the basic message of Jesus and the mission of his Church. It is open to three groups of people: those who have never been baptized and are intrigued by the notion of becoming Catholic, those who have been baptized in a different Christian faith and wish to become Catholic, and those who have been Baptized Catholic but not Confirmed. Whether you are looking to take the next step toward becoming Catholic or you just want to ask more questions about the Catholic faith, St. Charles is the right place for you. We will walk with you wherever you are at on your faith journey.
The Process
Begin your inquiry by meeting with Julie Malucha, Director of Evangelization, to share your faith story. In this informal, conversational meeting, you will discuss your questions, concerns, expectations and hopes. A Formation Plan to meet your needs will be developed. You will also be matched with a Parish Sponsor. Your parish sponsor is someone gifted in spiritual conversations who you can turn to for help in answering your questions about the Catholic faith.
The exact timeline for exploring the Catholic Faith will look different depending on your needs and particular situation but generally your formation will include RICA sessions that meet on Sunday mornings following the 9:00am Mass from September through Easter.
If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity or to attend our sessions, please contact Julie Malucha, Director of Evangelization, at jmalucha@stcharleshartland.org or 262-367-0800 Ext. 212.
